Eleni Marneri gallery presents the “SAKURA” jewelry collection of the jewelry brand VERBA based in Riga, Latvia by the artist Anna Fanigina on this Women’s Day 2025, Saturday, March 08, 12:00 – 17:00
The SAKURA collection is dedicated to the blooming Sakura trees of Japan. Each jewelry embodies a blossom — flying in the wind, carrying a message in Japanese, Latin аnd Ancient Greek. The collection consists of handmade silver jewelry with natural stones: rock crystals, topazes, rose quartzes, which are engraved with a spiritual messages.
The term万里同風 (banridōfū) / one wind for a thousand miles (ancient metaphor of the united world) is the motto of the collection and also is the text for one of the rings. Anna found this expression so meaningful to represent the collection, as it represents for her a metaphor for “peace and harmony, like the wind which blows, connecting different times and cultures.” So the Ancient world connects with today’s world with Latin, Ancient Greek and Japanese languages all together.
The Japanese part of the collection is formed by handmade asymmetrical silver rings and earrings with rose quartz, under which there are engravings with hieroglyphics on the theme of spring, beauty and blossoming.
In the Ancient Greek part of the collection, words of lightness and joy are engraved on flat natural topazes, drawing inspiration from antiquity. Even visually, Greek letters look like petals dancing in the wind.
In the Latin part of the collection, the words and phrases are hand-embossed on silver and set beneath rock crystals, emphasizing the theme of flight with their delicacy and transparency.
