Χιλιάδες λεπτεπίλεπτα λουλούδια από χαρτί και μετάξι, μικροσκοπικά έντομα, μυθικά πολύχρωμα πουλιά, μινιατούρες σε ονειρικές παραστάσεις – έργα μεικτής τεχνικής φτιαγμένα με σπάνια υλικά απ’όλο τον κόσμο τα οποία χρειάστηκαν μήνες για την κατασκευή τους, θα στολίσουν τους χώρους της γκαλερί Eleni Marneri για να μας ταξιδέψουν στον μαγικό, εξωτικό κόσμο της Mari Aoyama.
«Η αστείρευτη δοτικότητα και χάρη της μητέρας φύσης, η κοινή ψυχή των πλασμάτων της, η ενοποιός δύναμη των μορφών και των ήχων της, είναι ο μυστικός της ψίθυρος, πως το εσωτερικό μας φως είναι η μήτρα της ομορφιάς και της αγάπης -το μόνο αντίδοτο στην εντροπία του κόσμου μας.
Πάντα ζούσα ανάμεσα σε διαφορετικούς κόσμους. Έτσι αισθάνομαι τα έργα μου σαν μια γέφυρα που συνδέει αυτούς τους κόσμους αλλά και σαν ένα μέσο που με ωθεί να γνωρίσω βαθύτερα τον εαυτό μου, τους άλλους ανθρώπους, τη ζωή. Η δημιουργία τους με βοηθά να εκφράζω όσα δεν μπορούν να ειπωθούν με λέξεις. Αναζητώ την ομορφιά , την έμπνευση και την μαγεία στην καθημερινότητα μου. Πιστεύω στην αξία της λεπτομέρειας και στην ευγενική, διακριτική δύναμη των φυσικών υλικών., όπως το μετάξι και το χειροποίητο χαρτί. Νιώθω βαθύ σεβασμό για τους δημιουργούς που εργάζονται ατέλειωτες ώρες με μεράκι, αφοσίωση, και αγάπη για να κατασκευάσουν ένα μοναδικό έργο τέχνης.»
Η Mari Aoyama είναι Ελληνίδα από την πλευρά της μητέρας της και Ιαπωνίδα από τον πατέρα της. Σπούδασε στο Parsons School of Design της Νέας Υόρκης, στο Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture στο Παρίσι και στο Esmod του Τόκυο. H έκθεση θα περιλαμβάνει μεγάλα έργα και γιαπωνέζικες παραστάσεις-μινιατούρες μεικτής τεχνικής, και μοναδικά κοσμήματα.

Eleni Marneri Galerie is pleased to present Mari Aoyama’s new work in the exhibition by the title “Blossom”,on Thursday, April 14th.
Thousands of delicate little flowers made of paper and silk, tiny insects, mythical, multi-coloured birds, miniatures of dreamlike scenes – mixed media art works which were created with rare materials collected from around the world, will blossom in the gallery and take us on a journey to Mari Aoyama’s magical, exotic world.
“Mother Nature’s unending generosity and grace, the common soul of all beings, the unifying force of her shapes and sounds, are the mystical whispers telling us that our inner light is the womb of beauty and love- the only antidote to the entropy in our world today. I have always lived between worlds; the East, the West and beyond. My artwork is a bridge which brings these worlds together. It is also a tool for self-exploration. It connects me with people, with life, and it helps me express things I have no words for. I seek beauty, inspiration and moments of magic in everyday life. I believe in details and in the gentle and discrete power of natural materials, such as silk and handmade paper. I have a deep respect for craftsmanship; the endless hours, passion, dedication, integrity, care and love which is needed to create a single, handmade object of unique quality. An artisan is who I aspire to be.”

Mari Aoyama is Greek on her mother’s side, and Japanese on her father’s. She studied at Parsons School of Design in New York, at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, and at Esmod in Tokyo. The exhibition will include mixed media artworks & miniatures as well as unique pieces of jewelry.
