Johanna Daniil has an individual approach to jewellery design. Her imagery is derived from natural arrangements and materials are formed into fantastical landscapes, carried out with intricate embroidery. Influences from dressmaking and vintage couture differentiate the anatomy of the jewellery, resulting in statement objects that question the art of embellishment. Beauty is found in non-symmetrical formations that become glamorous ornaments, meant to adorn eccentric necks, ears, heads..
Her diploma in Fashion Design and the knowledge she acquired through her degree in Philosophy and History of Science is a constant inspiration in her work. The influence of art and the history of fashion instills her creative process, adding theoretical layers to purely aesthetic forms. After graduating in 2009 she has worked as an assistant and later on as a designer in Athens, which has allowed her to refine her design process as well as giving her a valuable understanding of the industry.
